This site is dedicated to helping teachers and students work in a 21st century digital writing classroom. This site is a creation of Young Writers Project, a Vermont nonprofit.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Richmond Middle School digital writing site being used by many students and teachers in grades 6-8. Each participating classroom has a private space where students share writing and homework with fellow students, give and receive feedback and incorporate digital media as appropriate. This site is the creation of Young Writers Project, an independent nonprofit dedicated to helping students become better writers.

From time to time, teachers will be highlighting student work by publishing it here for the general school community to view. We hope you enjoy what your students are creating.

As this is a new school year, the students' work is in an unpublished state -- viewable by the author and teachers. Students should feel free to continue work on an older piece -- good writing is all about good revision. Over the next few weeks, new classes will be set up, new students will be added and the writing will again begin.

How to get started

TEACHERS: Please send your new class lists to support@youngwritersproject.org. Student name, grade level and class assignment (students can belong to more than one classrooms). Please also give us usernames of students who have graduated. Reminder: NO full names or personal information will be kept on this site; email addresses will be non-functional.

The Richmond Middle School Digital Writing Classroom is set up for each student and teacher to have access to private classroom space. To access your space, or classroom, you must log in using the username and password you have been given for this site. None of the student email addresses is functional. Teachers have working email addresses.

Log in. Student users have been given usernames of their FirstnameL(ast intial). So Geoffrey Gevalt, director of YWP, would be GeoffreyG  (no space and make sure you capitalize the First letter of the first name and the Last intial). Your teacher has your new password (NOT the same as the old site.)

First thing, please change your password  by clicking  "My account" and "Edit." Change the password to something you can remember; we suggest you use the same password you use to log into your school network. Please do not put any personal information in your profile.

Navigation. Once you log in, you will see in the upper left hand column a series of navigational links. Here is what they do:
